James Anderson might play County Cricket when he is 50, believes Alastair Cook

James Anderson, popularly known as Jimmy Anderson to his fans, is 39 years old and will turn 40 years old next year in July, and he is still performing like a man in his mid-twenties.

And to further add to that, former England men's cricket team captain Alastair Cook has stated that James Anderson will be playing County Cricket at the age of fifty.

The former England cricket team captain, a top captain of the English team, sat on an interview with the BBC's Test Match Special podcast. During the chat, Alastair Cook added that James Anderson's line and length and the ability to swing the ball at this age proves that James Anderson is still at the top of his game.

And thus, James Anderson won't have any issues if he plays County Cricket when he is 50 years old or more. He also added that the only way to avoid James Anderson's is to stay aggressive like Indian batsman Rishabh Pant and target the off-side.

International career of James Anderson

James Anderson made his international cricket debut back in 2002 against Australia in the One Day International series. A year later, he made his debut for England in the Test format as well against Zimbabwe.

Talking about stats, James Anderson has played in 162 Test matches in which he has 617 wickets. He has also shown his class in the limited-overs cricket, in the One Day International (ODI), having picked up 269 wickets in 194 matches. However, he has not had a long time in the T20I's, though, as he has only featured in 19 games and has 18 wickets to his name.

James Anderson is currently involved in the five-match Test series against India. Anderson got four wickets in the first match itself in the first inning with the game still on.

Regarding the match, with the 4th day of play going on, England took the lead after they were bowled out for 183 runs in the 1st inning. In reply, India scored 278 runs, with KL Rahul being the highest scorer with 84 runs.
