Watch: Is MS Dhoni retiring after IPL 2023? CSK Skipper answers when asked about retirement in CSK event ahead of RCB clash
The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League has entered its third week of competition. With that, the fans will be thrilled with an epic southern derby when Chennai Super Kings lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Both teams will look to win and collect two important points on the table. CSK has won two out of four games and is sixth on the table. Meanwhile, one question is on the minds of not just CSK fans but all Indian fans: will this be the last season for MS Dhoni?
Notably, Dhoni has shown great form in the ongoing tournament. Although he didn't get many chances to bat, whenever he has, everyone saw glimpses of vintage MS Dhoni. Just like in the last game against RR, when he almost pulled off a miraculous win in the last over.
Dhoni has scored 58 runs so far at a staggering strike rate of 214.81 in this tournament so far. It is also not wrong that everyone wants to see him bat. However, the question of him retiring from the IPL was also asked a couple of seasons ago, and now, in 2023, he faces a similar question from one of his fans at a CSK promotional event.
Notably, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming was also sitting beside him, and as Dhoni replied, everyone in the room burst into laughter, including Fleming. Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2019, and his retirement came as a surprise to many. Meanwhile, at 41, the performance can be the same but the body can't, so if he retires after the season, it will not be a surprise. But the way he is performing, he still has a lot of cricket left in him.
