RCB Green Jersey: Here's Why RCB wear Green Kit and when they will play in IPL 2023

Royal Challengers Bangalore is among the most-followed teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. Although they haven't won an IPL until now, they still have a huge, dedicated fan base. RCB is known for doing various things to engage their fans through different events.

Just like in 2019, when the RCB played in the green jersey last time. RCB used to wear a green jersey at their home venue. But due to the COVID pandemic, the next three seasons in 2020, 2021, and 2022 didn't take place at home venues or had limited crowd capacity.

But RCB wore a blue jersey in 2021 in support of the frontline workers and also wore their green kit in one of the games in the 2021 edition. Notably, RCB introduced their Green Kit to endorse "Go Green" and promote awareness about planting trees and reducing the major effects of global warming.

For which, the RCB skipper will also present a plant as a memento to the skipper of the opposition team at the time of the toss, which is also part of the special initiative.

Notably, the green jersey is made of 100 percent recycled material and is worn only in day games. Thus, RCB will now play in the Green Kit on April 23. RCB has played a total of 13 games in Green Kit but doesn't have a great record.

They have just won three games and lost eight, while one game ended with no result due to rain. The first time the RCB played was in 2011 against Kochi Tuskers Kerala and won by nine wickets.

RCB has lost two matches against CSK and KKR and once each against MI, PBKS, and DC in Green Kit. Overall record suggests that the team batting first has won three out of 12 games while the team batting second has won eight games.
