Shardul Thakur explains the reason behind nickname Lord Shardul

 

As India fast bowler Shardul Thakur ran through South Africa's batting unit on Day 2 of the 2nd Test at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, the phrase "Lord Shardul" was trending on social media. Shardul has crafted a tendency to pick up vital wickets and breaking important partnerships in his brief but ephemeral Test career, and the Mumbai speedster was at it again on Tuesday.

Shardul Thakur's aliases include "Lord Shardul" as well as "Beefy," and the India bowler explained the reason for the former upon recording his career-best numbers of 7 wickets for 61 runs during the Johannesburg Test match against South Africa, which enabled India to restrict the Proteas to 229 runs in their first inning.
