"That's what politics does to deserving cricketers" - Ex-CSK player Kanishk Seth reveals why he won't make it to IPL 2022
Former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Kanishk Seth opened up on his recent struggles in his cricketing career in an exclusive interview with swagcricket.com. The 24-year-old player spoke at length about how his career is no longer the same as it was a few years ago.
At the IPL 2018 Mega Auction, the Chennai Super Kings signed Kanishk Seth to bolster their all-rounders’ section. Seth is a left-arm fast-medium bowler who can also smack some quick runs in the slog overs.
In that season, Seth was in the same squad as MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Imran Tahir. However, currently, he is playing tennis cricket and local matches to earn some money.
When asked if he would participate in IPL 2022 during a recent interview, Kanishk Seth replied:
“Well as I said I have not been registered for this season so no questions about getting into the IPL this year. I will be playing local games and tennis cricket here in Bengal to earn something! That’s what politics does to deserving cricketers.”
Kanishk Seth played for Krishnanagar Challengers in Bengal T20
While Kanishk Seth did not get a chance to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he played for Krishnanagar Challengers in the Bengal T20 tournament and returned with four wickets for his team.
In one of the matches, he picked up the wicket of Abhimanyu Easwaran, who is one of the top batters in the country right now. It seems Kanishk Seth will have to wait a little more before getting his big break.
The left-arm pace bowler revealed that he learned a lot about variations and field placements from veteran players Dwayne Bravo and Shane Watson during his time at CSK.
