WATCH: A fan in crowd takes excellent catch of Glenn Maxwell's shot
The Indian cricket team has struggled in the 50-overs format of late as they have lost 5 matches on a trot. First, New Zealand blanked them 3-0 in the ODI series, and then, Australia handed them defeats in the first two ODIs at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The third ODI match of the India vs Australia series will take place at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. The Men in Blue will be keen to end their losing streak in the 50-over format. But they will find it extremely difficult because the Australian team has never lost an ODI game in the nation’s capital.
Talking about what went wrong for the Indian cricket team in Sydney, the Australian batsmen were on fire during the first two games as the likes of Aaron Finch, David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, and Glenn Maxwell owned the Indian bowlers. Finch, Smith, and Maxwell did not have a great IPL season. Still, they got back to form and tormented their opponents in Sydney.
Speaking of Maxwell, the all-rounder, who earned the tag of being a ‘10 Crore Cheerleader’ from Virender Sehwag, after his dismal performance in IPL 2020, has been a game-changer for Australia in this series. Maxwell smacked 63 runs off just 29 deliveries, including four fours and four sixes in the second ODI match.
One of his four maximums landed in the crowd. For the first time since the COVID-19 break, fans have returned to stadiums in Australia. A local fan took a magnificent catch in the stands and that video clip has gone viral on social media. You can watch the video here.
