Babar Azam surpasses Virat Kohli's record with century against West Indies in 1st ODI

Babar, who made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in May 2015, has played in 87 ODI matches so far, scoring 4364 runs at an average of 59.78 with 17 hundreds and 18 half-centuries. He is currently the world's number one batter in ODI rankings, and he showed his importance by helping his side in chasing down another challenging target in the first ODI on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam extended his sensational run in white-ball cricket by scoring his third back-to-back hundred in one-day internationals. In the first ODI of the three-match series in Multan, the outstanding right-handed batsman smashed 103 runs to help his side chase down a target of 306 runs in 49.2 overs against the West Indies.

Prior to his 103 on Wednesday, the 27-year-old had scored 114 and 105 not out in the final two games of the three-match series against Australia, which took place in March-April of this year. Babar is the only batsman in the history of cricket to score a hat-trick of hundreds on two separate occasions.

Babar Azam became the fastest captain to reach 1000 runs in One-Day matches with his century against the West Indies side. It took the Men in Green captain 13 innings to attain the milestone. He broke Virat Kohli's record of scoring 1000 runs as an Indian captain in the 50-over format of the game, which he set in 17 innings.

As Indian fans are expecting for Virat Kohli’s 71st century for the last 2 years but it was Babar Azam who is smashing all the records with his bat at the moment. As the T20 WC is fast approaching India will look to take revenge on Pakistan as they lost their last outing against them in Dubai.
