5 players who left RCB and then became champions with MI

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have not had the luck by their side in the Indian Premier League as the Bangalore-based franchise has qualified for three IPL finals in the past, but they have lost all the finales. It is not that the Royal Challengers have had a weak squad. They have always possessed a stellar batting lineup that could destroy even the best bowling attack in the world.

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have been the pillars of this franchise. Chris Gayle also played a crucial role in RCB's success during the 2010s decade. Unfortunately, a few match-winners could not perform their best while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They later shifted to the Mumbai Indians and won the IPL trophy with them. In this article, we will have a look at those five players who were released by RCB, picked up by MI, and went on to become champions.

1.Parthiv Patel

Gujarat's left-handed wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel has played for many teams over the last 12 years in the IPL. He has played for the Chennai Super Kings, the Kochi Tuskers Kerala, the Deccan Chargers, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the Mumbai Indians.

Patel was a part of RCB in 2014. However, the Bangalore-based franchise did not retain him for the 2015 season. He joined the Mumbai Indians and won the title with them in 2015 and 2017.

2.Vinay Kumar

Vinay Kumar was one of the best fast bowlers present in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad during the first few seasons. He also played for the Kochi Tuskers Kerala and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

The right-arm quick bowler joined the Mumbai Indians in the 2015 season. Like Parthiv Patel, Kumar was a part of the MI champions squad of the 2015 and the 2017 seasons.

3.Karn Sharma

Very few fans might know that the Indian leg-spinner Karn Sharma was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in his debut IPL season. Sharma made it to the final of the IPL 2009 with the RCB squad.

Bangalore released him soon and he became a big star while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Mumbai Indians signed the former leg-spinner in the 2017 season and his leg-spin bowling played a huge role in their title triumph.

4.Saurabh Tiwary

Left-handed batsman from Jharkhand, Saurabh Tiwary had started his IPL career with the Mumbai Indians. He became a well-known name in the cricket world after his exploits in the 2010 season.

Subsequently, the Royal Challengers Bangalore signed him for a hefty price in the auction. Unfortunately, his form did not remain the same when playing for RCB. Tiwary returned to MI in 2017 and lifted the trophy as a part of their squad.

5.Yuvraj Singh

The last name to feature on this list is of the former Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh. RCB had spent a whopping 14 Crores INR to gain the southpaw's services in 2014.

Since his performances did not match the expectations, Singh was released by RCB. In the next five seasons, Yuvraj lifted the IPL trophy two times. He won with SRH in 2016 and then with MI in 2019.
