5 popular Indian stars who played only 1 IPL season for CSK

Indian stars have been an important part of the IPL. The rules of the IPL are such that every franchise needs to pick a minimum of seven Indian players in their playing XI for an IPL match. Unlike the overseas players, there is no upper limit on the number of Indian stars present in a playing XI of an IPL team.

Some of the biggest names of Indian cricket have represented the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL. Players like MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina and Ravichandran Ashwin played many seasons for CSK. However, not every Indian star has got this opportunity. The following five popular Indian cricketers played only a solitary season for the Super Kings.

1. Hemang Badani

Former Indian batsman Hemang Badani earned his maiden IPL contract from CSK in the year 2010. However, he could not never play a game for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. CSK did not retain him for 2011 season.

2. Ankit Rajpoot

One of the few Indian stars to take a five-wicket haul in IPL, Ankit Rajpoot had started his journey at CSK in 2013. He played two matches for the team, where he picked up one wicket.

3. Piyush Chawla

Piyush Chawla reunited with 2011 World Cup-winning team captain MS Dhoni at CSK in IPL 2020. However, the leg-spinner could not impress much. He played seven matches for CSK and took six wickets.

4. Vijay Shankar

Vijay Shankar earned a contract from CSK at the IPL Auction 2014. The all-rounder made his IPL debut for CSK in 2014 season, but he gave away 19 runs in one over. He did not get a chance to bat. Soon, he was released.

5. Irfan Pathan

One of the most popular Indian stars to feature on this list is former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan. The Chennai Super Kings signed Irfan at the IPL Auction 2015. He did not play even one match for CSK. Before the next season, CSK received a suspension, and Irfan then joined RPS and GL in the competition. He played his last match for GL in 2017.
