6 active Indian players you might not know once played in Pakistan
Pakistan is slowly rising once again in the world of cricket. After a long time, international cricket has returned to Pakistan, and now the country has secured the rights to host ICC Champions Trophy 2025. It will be a historic occasion for Pakistan if they are able to conduct the mega event in their country's stadiums.
However, the biggest question remains whether India will participate in the match. As of now, it is not known if the Men in Blue will play in the 2025 Champions Trophy, but the following active Indian players have experience of playing on Pakistani soil.
1. Rohit Sharma
Current Indian T20I captain Rohit Sharma was part of the Indian squad that participated in the 2008 Asia Cup. Pakistan hosted that competition, and Sharma played all six matches in that tournament, scoring 116 runs at an average of 29. The right-handed batter batted at a strike rate of 72.50.
2. Robin Uthappa
Robin Uthappa is another active Indian cricketer who has the experience of playing international cricket in the neighboring nation. Uthappa also played in the 2008 Asia Cup, where India ended as the runners-up. The right-handed batter had scored 37 runs in three innings during that tournament.
3. Ishant Sharma
India's most experienced active Test fast bowler Ishant Sharma played five matches for India during the 2008 Asia Cup. The right-arm pacer scalped six wickets, including one three-wicket haul. Sharma has not played white-ball cricket for India since 2016.
4. Piyush Chawla
Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla performed exceptionally well for the Indian cricket team in that Asia Cup tournament. He played three matches and picked up six wickets at an economy rate of 5.12. His best bowling figures were 4/23.
5. Sreesanth
Fast bowler Sreesanth is aiming to return to the Indian cricket team. He has the experience of playing in Pakistan, having played five ODIs in the country. The veteran pace took six wickets, including one four-wicket haul in those five matches.
6. Harbhajan Singh
The last name to appear on this list is veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. He has played two Tests on Pakistani soil, where he scored 38 runs but remained wicketless. It will be interesting to see if Harbhajan returns to Team India.
