Watch: 'Australian Anil Kumble' - Peter Hatzoglou goes viral after fans notice similarility between his and Kumble's bowling action

Anil Kumble is one of the greatest players of all time. He achieved a lot of success while playing for the Indian cricket team at the international level and for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.

While Kumble has retired from international cricket and shifted his focus to coaching now, fans have noticed that a bowler in Australia’s Big Bash League has a very similar bowling action to the Indian legend. His name is Peter Hatzoglou, who first played for the Melbourne Renegades and is now playing for Perth Scorchers.

Hatzoglou participated in an exclusive interview with Swagcricket.com recently, where he spoke about how people have compared him with Anil Kumble. He also added that he wants to play for Punjab Kings in the IPL.

“I don’t get much spin on Australian wickets so playing in conditions that favour spin is something I’ve always wanted to do. Many people have compared me to Anil Kumble and I’ve spent a lot of time watching his highlights, so Punjab is a team I’ve been drawn towards,” said Peter Hatzoglou.

Hatzoglou also named Anil Kumble as his favorite player outside Australia.

“Anil Kumble would have to be one of my all-time favourites. Our bowling styles are so similar and I’ve always loved his gentle demeanour and class on the field,” Hatzoglou added.

Clips of Peter Hatzoglou’s bowling have gone viral on the internet

The Big Bash League 2021/22 is currently underway, and here are three videos that show how Peter Hatzoglou’s bowling action resembles that of Anil Kumble.

Even his former Big Bash League club Melbourne Renegades acknowledged the same and tweeted about it during the previous BBL season. You can see that tweet from the Melbourne Renegades right here and below it are the videos of Hatzoglou’s bowling.
