Watch: Simran Bahadur's aggressive avatar in T20I against SA-W
New Delhi’s right-arm medium pacer Simran Bahadur made her T20I debut for the Indian women’s cricket team in the series against South Africa Women. The series at Lucknow ended in the visitors’ favor by the scoreline of 2-1.
Bahadur received her maiden international cap in the first match of the series. However, she could not scalp a single wicket in the first two games. Still, the captain Smriti Mandhana backed her and did not exclude her from the playing for the final match.
The move to include Bahadur in the playing XI proved to be a great decision because she dismissed the dangerous number three batswoman of the South African team Faye Tunnicliffe. Simran rattled the stumps of Faye on the final ball of the South African innings’ 11th over.
After picking up the wicket of the South African batswoman, Simran showed off her aggression and remembered England’s all-rounder ‘Ben Stokes’ during the match. Here is the video of Simran Bahadur’s aggression.
Flow of emotions is natural in a cricket game. Many times we have seen the men’s cricketers hurl abuses each other on the field. Virat Kohli has also used the ‘Ben Stokes’ term frequently, while Rohit Sharma recently showed the finger to his own teammate Rishabh Pant.
Simran Bahadur’s wicket helped India Women win the match
Simran Bahadur scalped only a solitary wicket in the entire T20I series but it was the most crucial one. Faye looked set for a big score after she amassed 18 runs off 35 balls. However, Bahadur sent her back to the pavilion as South Africa Women ended with only 112/7 in their 20 overs.
Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana’s excellent opening partnership ensured that the Indian women’s cricket team won the dead rubber in Lucknow. Rajeshwari Gayakwad was adjudged the Player of the Match for her three-wicket haul in the first innings.
