1 player who played in 2009 IPL in South Africa and is also playing in the first season of SA20
The first season of SA20 is happening at the moment. Interestingly, all the franchises in the competition are owned by owners of IPL teams. Also, back in 2009, IPL was held in South Africa. It was a major success at that time. It has been close to a one-and-half decade but still, some players who were part of that tournament are active. In fact, one player is even playing in the ongoing SA20. On that note, here, we take a look at the one player who played in the 2009 IPL in South Africa and is also playing in the first season of SA20.
Only one player from IPL 2009 is a part of the SA20
Roelof van der Merwe is the only player who played in the 2009 IPL in South Africa and is also playing in the first season of SA20. The now-Dutch all-rounder played for RCB in that season. Apart from being decent with the bowl, he also displayed his big-hitting skills. However, after that season, he did not find success in IPL. Nevertheless, for Sunrisers Eastern Cape, he has been having a decent season till now.
A successful tournament already
There were doubts that SA20 would be a successful event. It is not even halfway but already the tournament is proving to be a successful one. Crowds are present at each game and the encounters are also giving some good entertainment. The credit must go to the board for arranging the competition well keeping in mind there are three other top leagues happening at the same time.
