1 player who played in the first game of IPL in 2008 and never played in IPL again

IPL 2008

IPL started way back in 2008 with the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. Interestingly, one player who was a part of that game never played in IPL again. In this article, we take a look at one player who played in the first game of IPL in 2008 and never played in IPL again.

A brilliant start to IPL

Before the tournament started, many had doubts if IPL would reach the masses. However, it took just one game for the tournament to show that it would be the next big thing in the game of cricket. That game is important for the present and the future of the game.

Brendon McCullum must get credit for the job he did in that encounter. He hit a top hundred which set the momentum for the rest of the tournament. RCB struggled to chase the score and had to suffer a heavy defeat.

RCB's pacer played that game and never took part in IPL again

Ashley Noffke is the player who played in the first game of IPL in 2008 and never played in IPL again. Nathan Bracken was injured before the tournament and hence, Noffke was taken as his replacement. Not many expected him to play the first game but he got a chance.

In four overs, he gave away 40 runs and took the wicket of David Hussey. RCB did not give another game to him and the Aussie never played in IPL again. He also did not enjoy a great time at the international level as he could not cement his place in the team.
