2 former IPL captains who will be captains after a break in IPL 2023

IPL 2023

IPL 2023 will have a couple of changes when it comes to captaincy for a few teams. This was mainly because a few players did not do well after they were retained by the teams before the mega-auctions. Now, a few former IPL captains will get another chance to lead a side in the IPL. On that note, in this article, we take a look at two former IPL captains who will be captains after a break in IPL 2023.

1) Shikhar Dhawan - Punjab Kings

Shikhar Dhawan will be the captain of the Punjab Kings for IPL 2023. He replaced Mayank Agarwal, who will operate at Sunrisers Hyderabad for the next season. In the past, Dhawan was the leader at SRH before he was replaced by David Warner. Dhawan has plenty of experience in the league and his captaincy will be vital for the franchise to reach the playoffs. With the bat, too, Dhawan has to ensure that he does well as this will help the middle-order batters to maintain their aggressive intent.

2) David Warner - Delhi Capitals

David Warner is one of the former IPL captains who will be captains after a break in IPL 2023. Due to Rishabh Pant's unavailability, Warner will be the captain of DC for IPL 2023 as per reliable reports. In 2016, Warner had won the IPL as the captain of SRH. In IPL 2021, he was replaced midway through the season by Kane Williamson as the captain of the franchise. Hence, it will be a return to leadership for him. Considering Pant is not there, there would be severe balance issues for Delhi. Warner will have to take the team through this difficult stage.
