2 players who can replace Nicholas Pooran as West Indies white-ball captain

Nicholas Pooran replacement

Nicholas Pooran recently stepped down as the captain of the West Indies white-ball team. This was after the team's failure to reach the Super 12 stage of the 2022 T20 World Cup. Not just in the recent T20 World Cup but West Indies' form has been poor in recent months. Also, Pooran's form with the bat has been disappointing. With the ODI World Cup scheduled next year, the team would want to identify the new skipper at the earliest. On that note, in this article, we take a look at two players who can replace Nicholas Pooran as West Indies' white-ball captain.

1) Rovman Powell

It has been reported that Rovman Powell is all set to replace Pooran as the white-ball skipper. The big-hitting batter has had captaincy experience in CPL and has been Pooran's deputy in recent times. Hence, it may not be a bad decision to install him as the new captain. Powell first needs to improve his batting form to ensure that the team is served well by his captaincy. He would want to make that happen at the earliest.

2) Jason Holder

Jason Holder is one of the players who can replace Nicholas Pooran as West Indies' white-ball captain. The former skipper of West Indies is the ideal candidate to take the team forward, at least, until they groom a new name. Holder has captaincy experience and does hold an important position in both the ODI and T20I setups. Especially with the next World Cup happening in India, Holder has enough experience to help his team both as a player and as a skipper. Holder becoming the captain would allow the management to be more flexible and ruthless when it comes to the batting department.
