2 players who made their Test debut in the same year as KL Rahul but have already retired
KL Rahul is one of the most important players for India across all the formats. Until recently, the cricketer was out of the Test Team. However, he made a strong comeback in the England Tour in 2021. Now, he is the first-choice opener and also captained the team recently. It was way back in 2014 that KL Rahul made his Test debut. Although he struggled in the first game against Australia, he made a century in that series. A few players also made their Test debut in 2014. However, they have already retired from the sport. In this article, we take a look at two players who made their Test debut in the same year as KL Rahul but have already retired.
1) Stuart Binny
KL Rahul's state teammate Stuart Binny made his Test debut in 2014. Although he had played in the limited-overs format before, in whites, he earned his India cap in 2014. However, the all-rounder went on to play just six games for the country. He lost his form and did not come very effective for the squad. Recently, he announced his retirement from the game. The player has now taken up coaching.
2) Pankaj Singh
Pankaj Singh is also one of the two players who made their Test debut in the same year as KL Rahul but have already retired. Team India has always tried out quick bowlers on a regular basis. Pankaj Singh was one of those experiments. He had done really well in Ranji Trophy and Pankaj had the potential to do well in the five-day format. He is a tall player and also had a decent pace. Hence, the selectors felt that he would come good. However, he erred often when he played and later had to be dropped from the squad.
