2 players who played in the 2021 T20 World Cup but are nowhere near Team India right now
Team India did not have a memorable outing in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Even before the tournament started, there was a lot of discussion about the team that was selected. After the exit in the group stage itself, it was expected that there would some repercussions. A few players were dropped and since then, they have had it difficult to make a comeback to Team India. These players are fighting hard to make themselves relevant again in the scheme of things. On that note, in this article, we take a look at two players who played in the 2021 T20 World Cup but are nowhere near Team India right now.
1) Rahul Chahar
Rahul Chahar was selected ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal for the 2021 T20 World Cup. The selectors explained that Rahul is a fast leg-spinner and this profile suits better to the team. While Rahul did not have a great tournament, Chahal started to have a turnaround in his career. Hence, Rahul was dropped and after that, the likes of Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav became the other leg-spinners that India got interested in. Hence, Rahul has been away from the squad since then.
2) Varun CV
Varun CV is one of the players who played in the 2021 T20 World Cup but are nowhere near Team India right now. It was due to his mystery element that Varun got a chance in the squad. However, he was not effective at the event and leaked a lot of runs. In the wickets column, too, Varun did not impact the game. He also started to have fitness issues often. His recent IPL show was also disappointing. Overall, India seems to have moved on from the cricketer. Nevertheless, if Varun can come back to form in the next few months, he can still get a chance in the squad, although that might not happen for the 2022 T20 World Cup.
