It is not very common when a captain asks a player from his own team to leave the field for whichever reason it might be. Of course, when its an injury or any health-related break, it is understandable. However, when it is a disciplinary reason, more often than not, a captain stands by his player. That said, when a situation goes outside control, the captain could take some bold decisions. This has happened quite a few times in Indian cricket. In this article, we take a look at two players who were sent off for disciplinary reasons by their captain in a domestic game.

1) Yashasvi Jaiswal by Ajinkya Rahane

In the Duleep Trophy 2022, Yashasvi Jaiswal had a few words with Ravi Teja from the opposition. The Mumbai youngster stretched the line and at one moment, even Ajinkya Rahane found it hard to control him. Therefore, a few moments later, the skipper asked Jaiswal to step off the field. Jaiswal respected the decision and was outside the field for seven overs. He later came on to the field. On the flipside, it was a stunning show by Jaiswal in the final of the Duleep trophy. He scored a double hundred which was the major reason for West Zone to win the trophy.

2) Laxmi Ratan Shukla by Devang Gandhi

Laxmi Ratan Shukla is one of the two players who were sent off for disciplinary reasons by their captain in a domestic game. This happened way back in Ranji Trophy 2000/01. LS Shukla took on MS Dhoni with a couple of words when the former Indian skipper was representing Bihar. Devang Gandhi then asked the West Bengal cricketer to go off the field.
