2 teams with 7 foreigners who can sign Dasun Shanaka if an injury to a domestic player
Dasun Shanaka has been in fine form in recent months. Especially against India and in India, the Sri Lankan skipper has been exceptional. However, no teams showed interest in him in IPL Auctions. That said, a few teams could still sign him for the tournament. In this article, we take a look at two teams with 7 foreigners who can sign Dasun Shanaka if an injury to a domestic player.
1) Punjab Kings
Interestingly, despite having a lot of money left, Punjab Kings did not go for an eighth overseas signing. They might have done better with one more all-rounder or a pacer. In fact, even Dasun Shanaka would have been a good acquisition for the side. Nevertheless, if there is any injury to any domestic player, too, PBKS can now sign the Sri Lankan all-rounder. He would add experience to the lower middle order, which now consists of Shahrukh Khan and Jitesh Sharma.
2) Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans are one of the teams with 7 foreigners who can sign Dasun Shanaka if an injury to a domestic player. The IPL 2022 champions also did not opt to complete their overseas quota. That said, they can still sign a player like Shanaka, who would be a backup for a player like David Miller or even Hardik Pandya (if he gets injured) in the playing XI. GT would ideally like one more overseas pacer in the setup but it would be interesting if they end up signing someone like Shanaka.
