This year, the Asia Cup is to be played in August in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), though initially Sri Lanka were set to host the competition, but due to all the controversy that is going on in the country, UAE have been decided as the venue for the competition.
The last edition of the Asia Cup was played in 2018, which the Indian team won. India defeated Bangladesh in the final of the competition to lift the Trophy. While India mainly fields a somewhat rotated squad for the tournament, but that time around, they went with a full strength team.
But, it has been 4 years since the last edition was played and much has happened and changed from thereafter. There are several players who were part of the Asia Cup 2018 squad but are nowhere near the Indian team now.
Today in this article, we take a look at 4 Indian players who were part of Asia Cup 2018 but are nowhere near Indian team now.
Manish Pandey
Manish Pandey was one of the main man in Indian team's middle-order in the Asia Cup 2018. Pandey earned his spot in the Indian team with his performance in the IPL. But, the last couple of years have been only downfall for the Karnataka batsman and has been away from the Indian team for long now and a return seems really difficult.
Khaleel Ahmed
There were a lots of hopes and expectations from the left-arm pace bowler Khaleel Ahmed, but he has not able to seal his spot in the Indian team. After the retirement of the likes of Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra, India never found a top quality left-arm pacer. There were expectation from Khaleel but he has failed to live-up. He performance in the domestic cricket has been alright but not good enough to fight his way back into the team.
Kedar Jadhav
Kedar Jadhav was not player tested by the Indian team in their experiment to strengthen the middle-order. Jadhav played for a few years for the Indian team but with rising competition, he was dropped. His performance have suffered in the domestic cricket as well and there seems no way for him to make his way back into the team.
