India's next big assignment will be the four-match Test series against Australia in Feb-Mar. Current form is important and hence, we could see the selection committee take a few interesting decisions. A few players doing well in the ongoing Ranji Trophy might also get a chance. In this article, we take a look at three Indians doing well in the ongoing Ranji Trophy who might get a chance against Australia.

1) Jalaj Saxena

In 3 games, Jalaj has picked up 26 wickets. He is one of the prime contenders to finish as the highest wicket-taker of the season. Yes, he is a little old for a debut but India might need an extra right-arm off-spinner because there are too many lefties in the Aussie line-up. Therefore, the Kerala cricketer could get a chance.

2) Priyank Panchal

Priyank Panchal is one of the Indians doing well in the ongoing Ranji Trophy who might get a chance against Australia. In the first three games, the Gujarat cricketer scored 505 runs at an average of 126. It is well-known that the player has been on the fringes of the Indian Test Team. With KL Rahul suffering a drop in form, it won't be a surprise if Priyank Panchal gets a go.

3) Deepak Hooda

Before joining the Indian squad, Deepak scored 382 runs in 3 innings. With the player already in the Indian Team, it would not be a surprise if he gets a chance in the middle-order in Tests. Australia has left-handers such as David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Travis Head and Alex Carey in the playing XI. R Ashwin will lead the attack but having two left-arm spinners might not be needed. Hence, in this regard, as well, Deepak Hooda can be a decent option, especially if Ravindra Jadeja is unfit.
