3 Australian cricketers who could be dropped if they fail to do well in the Border Gavaskar Trophy
Australia has started the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy on a forgettable note. The team lost the first game and hardly put up a fight. If they fail to do well in the next games, too, a few players might have to bear the brunt of the results. It could go as far as an axe for a few cricketers despite the fact that Australia has almost sealed a spot in the finals of WTC 2023. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three Australian cricketers who could be dropped if they fail to do well in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
1) David Warner
David Warner recently scored a double century but apart from that, his recent form has not been great. When it comes to his stats in India, they are not very impressive. Hence, Warner must deliver in the next games or he could get dropped.
2) Peter Handscomb
Peter Handscomb is one of the Australian cricketers who could be dropped if they fail to do well in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Aussie middle-order is actually filled with top players such as Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith and Travis Head. Alex Carey will be the wicket-keeper while Cameron Green would also come into the picture. Hence, the margin for error is too narrow for Peter.
3) Matthew Renshaw
His spin game was one of the main reasons Renshaw was given a chance in the first Test. However, he disappointed everyone by getting out early. He also had to suffer an injury. Yes, there could be a vacancy at the top of the order but if Renshaw does not do well, it won't be a surprise if he gets dropped.
