Recently, Mitchell Star joined a rare list of cricketers. He got Tagenarine Chanderpaul out and incidentally, Starc had also got his father out a decade ago. Not many bowlers have achieved this feat in international cricket. In this article, we take a look at three bowlers who have taken the wicket of both father and son in International Cricket.

1) Ian Botham - Lance Cairns and Chris Cairns

When it comes to ODIs, Ian Botham collected the wicket of only Lance Cairns. However, in Tests, he got the wicket of both the father and the son. While Lance and Botham played a lot of cricket together, Ian had to bowl to Chris at the beginning of the 1990s. Lance got out a lot of times to Ian Botham while Chris lost his wicket only once to the all-rounder.

2) Wasim Akram - Lance Cairns and Chris Cairns

Wasim Akram is one of the three bowlers who have taken the wicket of both father and son in International Cricket. It was way back in 1985 that Wasim Akram collected the wicket of Lance Cairns. Ten years later, in Tests, Wasim got Chris Cairns out. Of course, Wasim Akram has got Chris Cairns many times out in ODIs.

3) Mitchell Starc - Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Tagenarine Chanderpaul

Mitchell Starc is the latest to join this list of bowlers who have taken the wicket of both father and son in International Cricket. While he got the wicket of Shivnarine in 2012, he collected the scalp of his son in 2022. Tagenarine recently made his debut for West Indies. He is looking good and West Indies will hope that the young opener walks in the footsteps of his father.
