India debut

In the current era, it takes a lot of time for a player to cement a place in the Indian Team. Although debuts could happen after a good IPL season, it isn't easy to retain the place. A cricketer has to be consistent and must also fit the requirement of the squad inorder to establish a name with Team India. At times, this could take a very long time. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three Indians you would be surprised to know made their international debut more than half a decade ago.

1) Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav made his debut way back in 2017. Although in ODIs, he did enjoy a fine stint for some time, at the moment, Kuldeep is not a confirmed starter in each format. That said, he is in good form and is slowly making a mark. He would now want to continue doing this to claim a permanent spot in the playing XI.

2) Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar is one of the Indians you would be surprised to know made their international debut more than half a decade ago. Sundar had an early debut because of his show in the IPL. India needed a player of his profile and hence, he got an early chance. However, he has had it tough since then, both with competition and injuries. In recent months, though, the management is investing a lot in him and Washi is also doing well with both the bat and the ball.

3) Mohammed Siraj

Although it is now that Siraj is reaching his peak, it was more than five years ago that he actually made his debut. He was first trusted in the shorter formats but he was disappointing in them. It was in Tests that he found form and later, due to his IPL exploits, he earned a return to the white-ball setup. He is now one of the best ODI pacers in the game.
