3 IPL captains who could substitute themselves in the 'Impact Player' rule IPL 2023

IPL 2023 Captains

The 'Impact Player' rule will be used very well by all franchises in IPL 2023. It is expected that if a team is batting first, there would be an extra batter while the team is bowling first, there would be an extra bowler. That said, if a team loses early wickets or if one of the bowlers has an injury, teams might have to make changes accordingly, which might not have been in their plans in the first place. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three IPL captains who could substitute themselves in the 'Impact Player' rule IPL 2023.

1) KL Rahul

The LSG top-order would consist of KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran. Hence, if the team loses early wickets and since the foreigners cannot be substituted, Rahul might have to take himself off to have another player in the batting line-up. This is an extended example but very much possible of happening.

2) Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is one of the IPL captains who could substitute themselves in the 'Impact Player' rule IPL 2023. It won't be a surprise if Rohit uses himself as a part of the tactic. There are quite a few multi-dimensional players in the playing XI and if the situation demands, we might see Rohit exiting the game after fulfilling his role.

3) Shikhar Dhawan

Since Shikhar Dhawan is an opener and if there is an early collapse, there is a high chance of the team substituting Dhawan. In PBKS' case, too, there would be foreigners in the top-order who cannot be taken off. Hence, Dhawan also falls on this list.
