3 nations that could have a different captain in T20Is after the 2022 T20 World Cup
Usually, teams place the mega ICC events as crucial checkpoints in the future of their squad. The upcoming T20 World Cup this year is likely to be one for many teams. This is because, after this event, there won't be a T20 World Cup for a while. The focus will shift to the ODI's. Therefore, some teams could think about changing their captains after the upcoming edition. In this article, we take a look at three nations that could have a different captain in T20Is after the 2022 T20 World Cup.
1) England
England has had a top white-ball squad under the leadership of Eoin Morgan. However, the player has been in poor form for the last few months. In T20I cricket, the likes of Jos Buttler have done well and shown their ability to lead a squad. Morgan will be at the helm for the 2023 50-over World Cup but the management could try to get in Buttler as the skipper of the T20 side.
2) Australia
If Australia had not won the 2021 T20 World Cup, Aaron Finch could have already been dropped from the squad. However, his captaincy is good and there is an expectation that he will come good with the bat. If Finch does not do well in the coming months, he might have to step down from the captaincy. The team anyways has the likes of Pat Cummins to fill the position.
3) India
Rohit Sharma, when he was appointed as the skipper, was given two tasks. The 2022 T20 World Cup is one of them and hence, after the event, despite the result, he might give up captaincy. His form in T20Is anyways has not been good. Someone like KL Rahul or Hardik Pandya could be asked to take over the T20I captaincy from Rohit.
