3 nations that do not have split captaincy right now

Split Captaincy

With the advent of the T20 format, teams have started drawing a clear line between formats. This decision has spilt to the captaincy aspect, as well. Almost every nation now has split captaincy, including teams such as England and Australia. However, three popular cricketing nations have not adopted this tactic. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three nations that do not have split captaincy right now.

1) India - Rohit Sharma

Team India is not new to split captaincy. MS Dhoni - Anil Kumble & MS Dhoni - Virat Kohli were part of this strategy in the past. However, Virat Kohli was the full-time captain across formats for a long time. Although after he quit Test captaincy, many felt that the management might give the role to a younger cricketer, they stuck with Rohit Sharma, who was earlier appointed as the limited-overs skipper. Hence, India is a part of this list.

2) Pakistan - Babar Azam

Pakistan is one of the nations that do not have split captaincy right now. It is important for nations to have players who can do well in all the formats if they do not want split captaincy. Pakistan has been lucky in this aspect and hence, they are on this list.

3) New Zealand - Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson has been enjoying a good stint as the all-format skipper of New Zealand. However, his personal form might force him to take an important decision soon. Tom Latham has done well in Kane's absence and there have been opinions that Latham could be given the captaincy in Tests.
