Suresh Raina retirement IPL

On Tuesday, Suresh Raina announced that he would retire from IPL and Indian domestic cricket. He is all set to play the upcoming Road Safety World Series. Raina also hinted that there have been offers from South Africa, UAE and Sri Lanka. Hence, it is clear that he would play in foreign T20 Leagues. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three overseas franchises Suresh Raina could play for after retiring from IPL.

1) Gulf Giants

Owned by Adani Group, Gulf Giant is a franchise in the UAE T20 League/International League T20. The franchise has named all the overseas picks but it is not sure if there are options to sign anyone else. It is likely that the option will be provided to the teams. In that scenario, Raina could be a great target for the franchise. Coached by Andy Flower, Gulf Giants are in need of a captain candidate. Raina could fill that role.

2) Joburg Super Kings

Hoburg Super Kings is one of the overseas franchises Suresh Raina could play for after retiring from IPL. Owned by the owners of Chennai Super Kings, Raina could play for the franchise in the future. It is not sure if he has registered for the auctions happening this month. Nevertheless, Raina could be associated with the franchise in future.

3) Kandy Falcons

The T20 competition in Sri Lanka was postponed due to the economic situation in the nation. Whenever it starts again, Raina might feature for one of the teams. The Kandy franchise had an Indian Head Coach in the previous campaign. If that continues, Raina could play for them. Hence, Kandy Falcons is also a part of the list.
