3 players for whom the India vs New Zealand T20I series was not helpful

Rishabh Pant T20

Team India recently won the T20I series against New Zealand. Although the rain was a determining factor, courtesy of Suryakumar Yadav's brilliant knock in the second T20I, India was able to win the series. However, for a few players, the series did not take the desired route. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three players for whom the India vs New Zealand T20I series was not helpful.

1) Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant played as an opener in the T20I series against the Kiwis. Considering he had not been a part of the preferred T20 XI recently, it was an important opportunity for Pant to address his woeful T20 form. However, he could not make use of the opportunity. He failed in both the innings and has now brought down the hopes of many on him as an opener.

2) Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan is one of the players for whom the India vs New Zealand T20I series was not helpful. It was actually critical for Ishan Kishan to do well in this series, especially with the likes of Prithvi Shaw close to the opener's slot. However, the southpaw did not have a memorable tournament. In both the innings, he looked rusty and out of touch. Considering this performance, it may not be a surprise if the likes of Sanju Samson soon play as an opener.

3) Washington Sundar

It was actually not Sundar's performance that did not help him in this series. In the second T20I, Deepak Hooda picked four wickets and proved his credentials as an off-spinner. Since he is a better batting option than Sundar, it was not a great output for the Tamil Nadu all-rounder. In fact, Sundar even lost his place in the XI for the third game. Hence, he is a part of this list.
