3 players who Mumbai Indians might sign as a replacement if Cameron Green is not available for IPL 2023
Mumbai Indians hired Cameron Green for INR 17.5 Cr at IPL 2023 Auctions. However, against South Africa, Green suffered an injury and might have to undergo a surgery. While he is expected to be fit within a few weeks, it won't be a surprise if that extends. In fact, Mumbai Indians could already be preparing for backup plans. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three players who Mumbai Indians might sign as a replacement if Cameron Green is not available for IPL 2023.
1) Dasun Shanaka
Dasun Shanaka has done well in the lower middle order for Sri Lanka. Yes, he is not proven in various conditions but is a solid option for MI to try out in IPL 2023. He can also bowl a bit, which would further make him a like-to-like replacement for Cameron Green.
2) Wayne Parnell
Wayne Parnell is one of the players who Mumbai Indians might sign as a replacement if Cameron Green is not available for IPL 2023. MI has Jofra Archer, Jason Behrendorff, Duan Jansen and Jhye Richardson in the overseas pace department. They would need to have at least two of them in the playing XI. However, barring Jofra, no other pacer is decent with the bat. Hence, to address this, the team could sign someone like Wayne Parnell, who would be a decent option at No.7 or No.8. With the Impact Player rule, having Parnell at No.7 won't be a big issue as the team can compensate that with an extra domestic batter whenever needed.
3) Jimmy Neesham
Neesham has played for MI before and if the franchise needs an experienced option, they can go for the Kiwi. In Neesham, the team would also have a left-hander in the finishing department, which they don't have at the moment. Hence, he would also be a decent option.
