1000 fours in Test cricket

Scoring boundaries is important in Test cricket once the batter has settled. It is an important part of a batter's game. So far, Sachin Tendulkar has scored the highest number of boundaries in Tests. The Master Blaster is the only cricketer to have scored more than 2000 boundaries in the five-day format. Amongst active cricketers, Joe Root leads the list with more than 1000 boundaries. However, there are a few players who could get to this number in a few months. In this article, we take a look at three players who are likely to hit 1000 fours in Test cricket soon.

Note: The stats are as of July 12th 2022.

1) David Warner (Australia) - 926 boundaries in 96 matches

David Warner is one of the batters in Tests who has a very attacking approach. This is one of the main reasons why he has found success although many wrote him off from this format at the start. His Test form is not great at the moment but Warner is sure to get the record of scoring 1000 boundaries soon. He is a good cricketer and once he finds his touch, it will be hard to stop him.

2) Virat Kohli (India) - 910 boundaries in 102 matches

Virat Kohli's form at the moment may not be great but he is just one good inning away from finding his form. Once he does that, scoring 90 more boundaries will not be a difficult task for the player. Hence, he is also a part of this list.

3) Steve Smith (Australia) - 900 boundaries in 87 matches

Steve Smith recently hit a hundred against Sri Lanka and announced his return to form. Once he has settled onto the crease, Steve Smith is a regular hitter of boundaries. Hence, it is a matter of time before he gets to the mark of 1000 fours in Tests.
