A five-wicket-haul is a special achievement for any bowler. However, in the T20 format, it is a rare occasion. Chennai Super Kings is one franchise that has always had a fine bowling attack. In this article, we take a look at three players who have picked up a 5-wicket-haul for CSK so far in the franchise's history.

If you take a look at the squads of CSK in the past, the bowling attacks were all well balanced. There were very few weaknesses, and even though a bowler does not execute individual brilliance, the team was able to do well because all the members contributed equally. Nevertheless, on three occasions, the CSK bowlers enjoyed great success on the field.

1) L Balaji (IPL 2008) - 5/24

Opposition: Kings XI Punjab

L Balaji is one of the players who have picked up a 5-wicket haul for CSK so far in the franchise's history. In fact, he is the first one to do it. It was the game against Punjab and CSK had made 181 runs in the first innings. Balaji was called on last by Dhoni during the bowling innings. However, he delivered big-time, picking a total of five wickets. His scalps included some well-known names such as Shaun Marsh and Ramnaresh Sarwan. CSK won the game by 18 runs.

2) Ravindra Jadeja (IPL 2012) - 5/16

Opposition: Deccan Chargers

Next up, in 2012, CSK came up against Deccan Chargers. Jadeja inspired CSK to 193 runs on the board in the first innings with 48 runs from 29 balls. He later came back to deliver a knockout punch to help CSK win the game by 74 runs. Jaddu collected the wickets of the likes of Parthiv Patel in his five-wicket haul.

3) Pawan Negi (2014 CLT20) - 5/22

Opposition: Kolkata Knight Riders

Pawan Negi chose an important occasion to pick a 5-wicket-haul for CSK. It was the final of the Champions League T20 in 2014 that Negi brought out a masterclass with the ball. He helped CSK restrict KKR to 180 by collecting the wickets of the likes of Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey and Jacque Kallis. CSK then won the game thanks to a Raina-century.
