3 positives so far for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022

Mumbai Indians IPL 2022

Mumbai Indians have suffered a horrible start to their campaign in IPL 2022. They lost eight games and were able to win their ninth encounter. Playoff chances are now very minimal and only a rare miracle gives them an outside chance. That said, despite the losses, Mumbai Indians can take a few positives from this campaign. In this article, we take a look at the three positives so far for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022.

1) The rise of Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma is one of the positives so far for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022. Despite it being his first season, the Hyderabad youngster happens to be the highest run-scorer for Mumbai Indians so far. More importantly, although he is an opener, Tilak has found success in the middle order. A left-handed batter doing well in the middle-order, especially against the spinners, is a great positive for the five-time champions. The fact that he can also bowl a bit of off-spin is further a good sign for MI.

2) Promise of Dewald Brevis

When MI purchased Dewald Brevis, not many were sure if he can replicate the U19 success at the highest level. However, he has shown the promise that he can do it. Batting at No.3. Brevis was fearless in a few games and displayed good technique for a teenager. With age, he will become a better cricketer and is set to be a part of Mumbai Indians for a very long time.

3) Suryakumar Yadav showing that he can fulfil Hardik Pandya's role in the batting order

Hardik Pandya played an amazing role at No.6 for Mumbai Indians in the last few years. Although SKY is MI's preferred No.3, he has shown that he has the ability to don the finisher's role that Hardik was playing. In the future, when Dewald Brevis starts playing at No.3, SKY is already the readymade option to slot in at No.5.
