3 teams that can target Dasun Shanaka for IPL 2023

Dasun Shanaka is one player who has been in terrific form over the last few months. While he left many impressed with his performance against India earlier this year, recently, he helped Sri Lanka chase 59 in the last three overs against Australia. His power-hitting is on the rise and Shanaka can also offer a few overs with the ball. Hence, he is a value cricketer and might be in demand for IPL 2023. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three teams that can target Dasun Shanaka for IPL 2023.

1) Rajasthan Royals

The finalists of IPL 2022 had a few issues with the balance of the squad. Dasun Shanaka can be a good option to set that right as he can also bowl a bit. Moreover, his presence at No.6 can help the likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer to be more expressive with their approach. If Shanaka has to fit into the XI, one of the Indian domestic pacers like Kuldeep Sen or Navdeep Saini will have to feature.

2) Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the three teams that can target Dasun Shanaka for IPL 2023. Abdul Samad and Shashank Singh could not do well in IPL 2022 and hence, the lower middle-order struggled. On the other hand, the franchise used Romario Shepherd and Marco Jansen despite the presence of Kartik Tyagi on the bench. Hence, from next season, they can try to fit in Dasun Shanaka at No.6 and have Kartik Tyagi play all the games.

3) Mumbai Indians

Like in RR's case, a Sri Lankan coach could target the country's limited-overs captain. With Kieron Pollard likely to be released, Mumbai might need a player who can be back up to the likes of Tim David and Dewald Brevis. Hence, they could set their sights on Shanaka, who can shore up the batting in the death overs.
