3 teams that can target Joe Root in IPL 2023 Auctions

There are reports that Joe Root will register for IPL 2023 Auctions. The cricketer is yet to play in the IPL and also does not feature in the England T20 Team. However, due to his skill, a few teams could be interested in his services. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three teams that can target Joe Root in IPL 2023 Auctions.

1) Chennai Super Kings

It won't be a surprise if Joe Root ends up at CSK. Although Devon Conway and Moeen Ali will form a strong top order for CSK, it is not sure if they can be consistent. Here is where a player like Root can be helpful to CSK. The former England skipper can play spin well and will also offer right-arm off-spin. At Chepauk, this can be useful and therefore, CSK can target the cricketer.

2) Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the teams that can target Joe Root in IPL 2023 Auctions. Having released Kane Williamson, if SRH is looking for a cheaper alternative, they can look at Joe Root. Most of the players in the SRH batting line-up are aggressive cricketers and this might require a player in the mould of Root to balance the batting line-up. It may be too early to include him as a captaincy candidate but if SRH does not hire a reliable option at the auctions, Root may not be a bad option.

KKR requires an overseas opener after they released Alex Hales. They would need someone who is good against pace bowling. Joe Root can be a good choice.
