3 teams that could replace their Head Coach for IPL 2023
Every season, we see a change or two in the backroom staff of a franchise in the IPL. This depends on the performance of the team in the last edition and of course, the uncontrollable factors. Head Coach is seen as an integral member of a franchise. In recent years, with the evolving influence of tactics, the role of a coach has increased in IPL. Hence, if a team is not doing well for a period team, franchises could tend to change the occupant. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three teams that could replace their Head Coach for IPL 2023.
1) Kolkata Knight Riders - Brendon McCullum
Brendon McCullum has taken over as the Head Coach of the England Test Team and hence, he is likely to part ways with KKR. The Kiwi has anyways not done a great job in his role so far. The performance at the IPL 2022 Auctions was pretty bad. Therefore, KKR could replace McCullum for next season.
2) Punjab Kings - Anil Kumble
Punjab Kings is one of the teams that could replace their Head Coach for IPL 2023. The franchise has not reached the playoffs in the last few years. Despite a better squad in IPL 2022, the team has not managed to do well. Some of the players have not been in form but there have been some tactics employed by the team that has not worked on the field. Hence, courtesy of the poor show in the previous seasons and in the ongoing campaign, PBKS could sack Anil Kumble.
3) Mumbai Indians - Mahela Jayawardene
Mahela Jayawardene is involving himself in Sri Lankan cricket and it is not a surprise if he takes a bigger role in the future. It is two years now that Mumbai Indians have qualified for the playoffs. The franchise could be in search of a new philosophy and hence, Jayawardene could be relieved of his job.
