The T20 format has a short history and hence, at every T20 World Cup, we witness at least a few T20 records being beaten. Some of the records could also be broken later this month. On that note, in this article, we take a look at four all-time T20I records that could be broken in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

While the seniors of most nations started the T20 format, it was the next generation that took over of them. This generation earned their expertise and set the template for how the game needs to be played. However, a new generation is now coming up and they are slowly coming at the records set by the players who took over from the veterans.

1) Most matches as captain - MS Dhoni and Eoin Morgan (72)

Players who can beat the record at the 2022 T20 World Cup - Aaron Finch (68)

The most matches played as captain is one of the all-time T20I records that could be broken in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Eoin Morgan could have played the T20 World Cup but he retired from all forms of the game. On the other hand, Aaron Finch has retired from ODIs but he will skipper the squad at home at the 2022 T20 World Cup. Therefore, he will surely break the record.

2) Most wickets taken bowled - Lasith Malinga (43)

Players who can beat the record at the 2022 T20 World Cup - Rashid Khan (39)

It is hard to take a lot of wickets as bowled in T20s. Most wickets are usually caught out. Nevertheless, Lasith Malinga did well in this aspect. However, Rashid Khan could beat this record. He is just four wickets away and if not the T20 WC, in a couple of months, he will surely go past the Sri Lankan legend.

3) Most wicket-keeper dismissals - MS Dhoni (91)

Players who can beat the record at the 2022 T20 World Cup - Quinton de Kock (79)

Most dismissals by a wicketkeeper record is also one of the all-time T20I records that could be broken in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Gaining 13 dismissals for a keeper could be hard in a tournament. However, South Africa has a terrific pace unit and QDK can target to beat MSD's record. Just like the previous record, if not in the T20 WC, Quinton de Kock will eventually beat it.

4) Most wickets in a calendar year - Sandeep Lamichhane (38)

Players who can beat the record at the 2022 T20 World Cup - Bhuvneshwar Kumar (32)

With Nepal spinner Sandeep Lamichhane out of action due to the controversies, he may not be able to retain the record of most dismissals in a calendar year. He had 38 wickets so far in 2022. That said, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is just six scalps away and could clinch this record. This will be a massive feat for the Indian pacer.
