4 players who could have earned more if they had come up earlier in IPL 2023 Auctions

IPL 2023

While they throw an indication, IPL Auctions are never the criteria that define the quality of the cricketer. Often, the bid that the player goes for depends on the requirement for that profile at the event. Sometimes, it also depends on the order in which the players are called out at the event. On that note, in this article, we take a look at four players who could have earned more if they had come up earlier in IPL 2023 Auctions.

It is purely down to luck on how many bids a player earns at an auction. When he is called out early, most teams might be willing to invest as they do not want to miss out. Hence, he might go for a big sum and on the other side, someone who comes later might go for a low amount because teams might have less money left or might have already filled their vacancy.

1) Phil Salt - INR 2 Cr (Delhi Capitals)

Phil Salt is one of the players who could have earned more if they had come up earlier in IPL 2023 Auctions. While the likes of Harry Brook and Will Jacks went for decent bucks, interestingly. Phil Salt was sold at his base price. Maybe, had he come in the first set, the outcome would have been different. Teams such as SRH, which were also looking out for a keeper, might have gone for Salt instead of Harry Brook.

2) N Jagadeesan - INR 0.9 Cr (Kolkata Knight Riders)

In Jagadeesan's case, too, had he come earlier, he could have earned a decent amount. Since franchises like CSK had already spent a lot, they did not have a lot of cash left to invest in Jagadeesan. Hence, in the end, it was KKR that benefited from the dynamics.

3) Sanvir Singh - INR 0.2 Cr (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Sanvir Singh is also one of the players who could have earned more if they had come up earlier in the IPL 2023 Auctions. Before the auctions started, many felt that Sanvir will attract a decent amount. However, he was sold at just his base price. Teams like Delhi Capitals could have invested in the Punjab cricketer had he come earlier in the auctions.

4) Daniel Sams - INR 0.75 Cr (Lucknow Super Giants)

Daniel Sams did not have a great start to IPL 2022 but later pulled off some fine performances for Mumbai Indians. While the likes of Jason Holder went for a good amount, even Sams could have had a decent outing at the auctions if his name had come earlier.
