4 players who repeatedly go unsold and yet have registered for a base price of INR 2 Crores at IPL 2023 Auctions

IPL 2023 Unsold

A few days ago, BCCI confirmed that close to 1000 players have registered for the upcoming IPL 2023 Auctions. A few reliable sources also confirmed the players who will belong to a base price of INR 2 Crores at the bidding event. On that note, in this article, we take a look at four players who repeatedly go unsold and yet have registered for a base price of INR 2 Crores at IPL 2023 Auctions.

Usually, players judge their situation and try to slot in at a base price which would give them the best chance of getting picked by a franchise. However, some players slot themselves in a higher bracket by calculating if spending two months of time for that amount is worth it for them. In this regard, despite getting unsold repeatedly, a few players still rate themselves high. We take a look at some names below:

1) Angelo Mathews

Angelo Mathews is one of the players who repeatedly go unsold and yet have registered for a base price of INR 2 Crores at IPL 2023 Auctions. The Sri Lankan all-rounder has not played in the IPL for a long time now. Back then, he was a highly-rated cricketer because of his all-round abilities. However, he hardly bowls now and does not represent Sri Lanka in the T20 format. Yet, the player has got himself slotted in the highest bracket. It is very unlikely that he would land a contract. In fact, it would be a surprise if his name even makes it to the auction table.

2) Tom Banton

A few years ago, Tom Banton did well in domestic cricket and earned himself a chance in the England Team. Kolkata Knight Riders trusted him and had him on the roster for a season. However, the player did not do well. Since then, no team is showing interest in him. Yet, the youngster is getting himself slotted high. This could, yet again, deny him an opportunity of playing in the IPL.

3) Adil Rashid

Adil Rashid is also one of the players who repeatedly go unsold and yet have registered for a base price of INR 2 Crores at IPL 2023 Auctions. The English leggie has played in the IPL recently for Punjab Kings. However, when it comes to the auction, Rashid has faced only disappointments. A lower base price could have helped him get a contract. That looks very difficult now.

4) Jamie Overton

Jamie Overton has played 83 T20s but is yet to play for England. His credentials as a bowling all-rounder are useful in a T20 XI. However, despite getting unsold a few times, the player still has himself registered in INR 2 Cr bracket. Hence, he is also a part of the list.
