Suresh Raina U19

Suresh Raina was part of two U19 World Cup squads. While the 2004 batch is popular, the 2002 batch went under the radar. In the 2004 batch, we saw the likes of Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayudu, Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uthappa all play in a single team. In the 2002 batch, too, there were some notable names. In this article, we take a look at four players who were Suresh Raina's teammates in the 2002 U19 World Cup squad.

Suresh Raina recently retired from all forms of the game. He has been a fine servant for Indian Cricket and was also a star performer in IPL. However, the last few years did not go in the desired route for the cricketer. He was not picked by any team in the 2022 IPL Auctions. Raina has now retired from Indian Cricket and will explore opportunities in overseas T20 leagues.

1) Parthiv Patel

Parthiv Patel is one of the players who were Suresh Raina's teammates in the 2002 U19 World Cup squad. In fact, the Gujarat cricketer was the captain of the squad. Parthiv made his India debut as a youngster. After MS Dhoni came into the side, Parthiv did not get a lot of chances. He did make a comeback but was not able to cement his spot in the squad. He has now retired from the game.

2) Stuart Binny

Stuart Binny played in the ICL and later got a chance in IPL. As a youngster, he was rated highly. He went on to play all three formats of the game for India. That said, Binny could not realize his potential in the Indian Team and also in IPL. He retired recently and is working on becoming a coach in the top flight.

3) Manvinder Bisla

Manvinder Bisla is also one of the players who were Suresh Raina's teammates in the 2002 U19 World Cup squad. The wicket-keeper batter was the highest run-getter for India in that tournament. Bisla's career peaked while he played for KKR. However, he could not cement his place later on. Currently, after retiring, he is involved in some T20 tournaments.

4) Paul Valthaty

Paul Valthaty came onto the scene when he famously scored a century while playing for the then Kings XI Punjab. However, almost instantly, his career went downwards. The opener was not able to leave a mark in domestic cricket and also failed to improve his IPL career.
