India needs to plan for transition in Tests. Especially when it comes to the openers, while KL Rahul has not been convincing, Rohit Sharma is having injury issues. On that note, here, we take a look at four young aggressive openers India must groom as the future Test opener.

There is the possibility of Shubman Gill going down the order in Tests. Hence, both slots could be open. India might have to groom aggressive batters and there are plenty in domestic cricket. A few must be already integrated into the squad.

1) Yashasvi Jaiswal

In recent months, the southpaw from Mumbai has done well in FC Cricket. He has displayed good intent and this will work well for the teams he represents. Most importantly, Jaiswal is a left-hander and India hardly has any options at the moment as a left-handed opening batter. On spinning tracks, Jaiswal could also help with his leg-spin. Hence, he must find a spot in Team India soon.

2) Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw is one of the young aggressive openers India must groom as the future Test opener. Yes, Shaw has played for India before and even has a century to his name. However, he is almost out of the radar now, when it comes to Tests. Shaw has his problems with the moving ball but he is someone who scores quickly and this could be helpful for the batting unit. He already has enough experience in domestic cricket and deserves a relook.

3) Yash Dhull

Yash Dhull made his FC debut last season and started out as an opener. He has batted mostly in the top order. He may be raw but India needs youngsters to be groomed and that can happen by having them interact a lot with the senior squad. Therefore, it would not be a bad idea to give him a go at the highest level and test his technical abilities. If it comes off, India will have a solid opener in the Tests. Before that, though, he should be involved with the India A squad.

4) Rohan Kunnummal

Rohan Kunnummal is also one of the young aggressive openers India must groom as the future Test opener. The Kerala cricketer is known for his quick run-scoring and has done it a lot in domestic cricket. He is 24 years old and can be a suitable inclusion in the Indian Team. He might need a few more India A tours to be prepared for the India Test in the future.
