Jasprit Bumrah, a leading fast bowler for India, has risen to the top of the ICC ODI Rankings in bowling. After an outstanding effort (6/19) against England in the first ODI at The Oval, the right-arm seamer took the top slot. Jasprit Bumrah climbed five spots in the rankings to surpass Trent Boult of New Zealand at the top. Indian team is known for their top class batsmans like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni. But here are the 5 Indian bowlers who have achieved World No1 in ODI Cricket. 

5. Maninder Singh - 1987

Maninder Singh, a left arm orthodox spinner from Pune was one of the Indian bowlers who has been on the top of ICC bowlers chart in ODI cricket. He has picked 66 wickets for team India in the ODI format. It was a great achievement for Indian cricket as he claimed the top of the ICC bowlers ranking in 1987 against the West Indies. It was an era which was dominated by the West Indian fast bowlers but Indian spinners getting to the top is one of the great achievements.

4. Kapil Dev - 1989

Kapil Dev is one of the best all rounders in World Cricket. He was the first Indian captain to win the World Cup for team India in 1983. He was well known for his curved run up and lethal outswingers when he was bowling.  Kapil Dev has picked 235 wickets for team India in ODI history. He reached the top of bowler’s ICC ODI rankings in 1989.

3. Anil Kumble - 1996

Anil Kumble is one of the reasons why the Indian team has many world class spinners. He inspired many Indian youngsters to take up spin bowling. He has taken 337 wickets for team India in ODI Cricket. Anil Kumble is one of the Indian bowlers to be number 1 in  ICC ODI rankings. He achieved this in 1996.

2. Ravindra Jadeja - 2013

Ravindra Jadeja is one of the premium spinners for the Indian cricket team. He was moreover known as a bowling all rounder than a batting all rounder in his early days. But now Ravindra Jadeja is one of the best batsmen for team India in test Cricket. Jadeja has picked 188 wickets for team India in ODI Cricket. Jadeja reached the top of ICC rankings in 2013. Jadeja will play a key role for team Indian in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
