5 contracted players by BCCI who must play Ranji Trophy to get back confidence
If you take a look at some of the recent decisions by the management, it can be concluded that some bold calls with respect to team selections are being taken. We can expect it to continue further. Hence, a few players will need to prove themselves again in domestic cricket to get a spot back in the Indian Team. On that note, in this article, we take a look at 5 contracted players by BCCI who must play Ranji Trophy to get back confidence.
Ranji Trophy helps the players to gain form by getting consistent outings on the field. Doing well at this level will also help the confidence of the players, who can utilize it if they get selected for the Indian Team. A few are already doing that and a few more players are all set to get added to this list.
1) Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur currently holds a place in the Test and the ODI Team. However, this spot is not confirmed if the regulars return. Even when he is playing, Shardul is not delivering and hence, it might not be long before he gets dropped. A stint with Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy should help his confidence. There are brilliant batters in domestic cricket and picking their wickets will help the bowling all-rounder.
2) Mayank Agarwal
Mayank has been dropped from Team India. He is playing for Karnataka but is not doing well. Therefore, he might need to spend some more time in the middle to get his touch back. Ranji Trophy will be the best option for the opener. A few years ago, he did extremely well in the competition. He will look to repeat that again.
3) Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane has already started playing consistently for Mumbai. India seems to have moved on from the cricketer but Ajinkya can still force a comeback. For that to happen, he should be at his best in the Ranji Trophy.
4) Ishant Sharma
Like Rahane, Ishant has also got himself involved in domestic cricket. For a player of his stature, a comeback is always on the cards. However, he should pick a lot of wickets to make that happen, considering the competition for the fast-bowling spots in the Indian Test Team. An IPL stint would also help the cricketer.
5) Hanuma Vihari
Hanuma Vihari was surprisingly ignored for the Bangladesh Test Series. It is not that the middle-order batter is out of form. Nevertheless, such incidents happen within the dynamics of the game. Vihari, though, has a great chance to take his spot again if he scores some big runs in the Ranji Trophy.
