The 2022 edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League ended with Chepauk Super Gillies and the Lyca Kovai Kings sharing the trophy. As usual, like every year, TNPL has thrown light on some names, who can do well in the IPL. In this article, we take a look at five performers from TNPL 2022 whom CSK can target for IPL 2023.
Chennai Super Kings had a forgettable season in IPL 2022. The MS Dhoni-led squad would want to come back to form next year. They can invest in some homegrown talent for the same. In the past, TNPL has produced many promising cricketers such as Washington Sundar, T Natarajan and Shahrukh Khan. If CSK can unearth a few more, they can have a good future.
1) Baba Aparajith (Nellai Royal Kings)

Baba Aparajith is one of the performers from TNPL 2022 whom CSK can target for IPL 2023. He should have already made his debut in IPL and should have been a consistent part of an IPL franchise by now. However, it has not happened till now. Nevertheless, Aparajith put up another excellent show in TNPL 2022. He deserves a chance in IPL because of his diverse skillset. While he scored 396 runs at a strike rate of 144, he also took five wickets. Such multi-utility players are liked by MS Dhoni and Baba can attempt to fill the spots occupied by the likes of Ambati Rayudu at the moment.
2) J Suresh Kumar (Lyca Kovai Kings)

J Suresh Kumar is a fine wicket-keeper and can be targeted by CSK. He plays in the top order and will act as a good backup to the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad. He might be 31 years old but he has the experience to make it count.
3) K Vishal Vaidhya (Dindigul Dragons)

Vishal is a left-handed batter and has good shots in his armoury. He is 25 years old and will be a good investment for any franchise. He is in good form and hence, Vishal is also one of the performers from TNPL 2022 whom CSK can target for IPL 2023.
4) G Ajitesh (Nellai Royal Kings)

The youngster is a top talent and any time that hires will have an asset for the future. Despite being just 19, Ajitesh struck at close to 250 strike rate in TNPL 2022. He was in terrific form and will turn many eyes in the next auction.
5) Sandeep Warrier (Chepauk Super Gillies)
Matches: 9 || Wickets: 11 || Economy: 6.91
Sandeep Warrier is also one of the performers from TNPL 2022 whom CSK can target for IPL 2023. He made his India debut in 2021 but did not earn an IPL contract for the 2022 season. However, he was in good form in TNPL 2022. CSK would want to have a backup for the likes of Deepak Chahar. Sandeep is an experienced player and will help the depth of the franchise.
