5 players who will miss India vs South Africa Test series because of injury
The India vs South Africa Test series will begin on December 26. Both teams have announced their respective squads for the 3-match series. Fans should note that the series is part of the ongoing 2021-23 World Test Championship cycle.
Many big names of world cricket will be in action during the India vs South Africa Test series. India have never won a Test series in South Africa before. So Virat Kohli and Co. have a chance of making history this time. The BCCI announced the Indian Test squad a few days back, but the following five players will miss the South Africa Test series due to injuries.
1. Rohit Sharma
Before the India vs South Africa Test series, BCCI named Rohit Sharma as the new vice-captain of the Indian Test team. However, Sharma will miss his first series as the Test vice-captain because of a hamstring injury. Priyank Panchal has replaced him in the squad.
2. Shubman Gill
Another Indian opener who will miss the South Africa Test series because of an injury is Shubman Gill. The right-handed batter picked up the injury during the Test series against New Zealand at home.
3. Ravindra Jadeja
Hours before the 2nd India vs New Zealand Test match, BCCI announced that Ravindra Jadeja would miss the game because of a right forearm injury. Jadeja is at the NCA right now and undergoing rehabilitation.
4. Axar Patel
Left-arm spinner Axar Patel performed well in the home series against the New Zealand team. But he failed to make the cut to the squad for the South Africa series because of an injury.
5. Rahul Chahar
Uncapped player Rahul Chahar was a part of the India 'A' squad for the unofficial Test series against South Africa 'A'. However, he was not considered for the official Test series because of an injury.
