5 players whom franchises have signed as replacement for the final leg of SA20

SA20 Replacement

Due to the South Africa and England series, the SA20 League had to be stopped for a week. From Thursday, the final leg of the tournament would happen. As expected, there are some injuries and in a few cases, some overseas players are unavailable. Hence, teams are busy identifying replacements. On that note, in this article, we take a look at five players whom franchises have signed as replacements for the final leg of SA20.

The teams that have been doing well will not like the break. However, for the teams that were underperforming, the break will give them a chance to reflect. They could also sign a few players in case some of their cricketers will not take part in the remaining part of SA20.

1) Tim David - MI Cape Town

Tim David is one of the players whom franchises have signed as replacements for the final leg of SA20. With Liam Livingstone injured, MI Cape Town had to find a replacement. Big Bash League is over for Tim David and hence, the Mumbai Indians cricketer was available. It was not a surprise that the franchise brought him as the replacement. David would now greatly improve the batting unit, especially in the lower middle order.

2) Matthew Wade - Joburg Super Kings

Joburd Super Kings have now got Matthew Wade in the team for the remainder of the competition. The team might make use of the experienced Aussie in the finishing department. His experience will help the franchise a lot in avoiding the batting collapses that they have had till now.

3) David Willey - Durban Super Giants

David Willey is also one of the players whom franchises have signed as replacements for the final leg of SA20. With Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers both leaving the competition, DSG would have needed some good overseas all-rounders to fill the gap. Here is where someone like David Willey can really help the franchise. While he can bowl three overs in the beginning, he can also contribute to the batting department.

4) Henry Brookes - MI Cape Town

Henry Brookes will represent MI Cape Town in place of Olly Stone. The Englishman is a pacer and he will now have a good chance to impress his owners. A good stint might give him a chance in other tournaments such as in the IPL.

5) Ben McDermott - Durban Super Giants

Ben McDermott is also one of the players whom franchises have signed as replacements for the final leg of SA20. Just like David and Wade, McDermott is also free of BBL commitments and hence, he has signed up for SA20. DSG would need the player to fire at the top of the order. This will help the franchise arrest the inconsistency in the batting department.
