The Pakistan Super League is one of the most popular T20 leagues at the moment. The tournament has now matured enough to become popular. However, back in the initial stages, many unknown things had happened which might leave a few surprised now. On that note, in this article, we take a look at 5 players you might not know have been a captain in the history of PSL.

Captaincy is an important parameter in the T20 format. Games can be won or lost solely by captaincy. Hence, usually, a lot of discussions happen while appointing a skipper.

1) AB de Villiers - 3 games (Lahore Qalandars)

AB de Villiers is one of the players you might not know have been a captain in the history of PSL. The legendary cricketer played in all the seasons of IPL but never got a chance to captain a side. However, he has had a short career but has led in the PSL. That said, in the matches he captained, the team lost two of the games.

2) Mohammad Sami - 9 games (Islamabad United)

Usually, bowlers don't get a chance to captain in the T20 format. When it comes to the IPL, Zaheer Khan is a popular example. Likewise, in the PSL, Mohammad Sami got a chance to captain a side. The player had a fine start to his career but later lost his form. However, towards the end of his career, he found success in the PSL. 

3) Ravi Bopara - 1 game (Karachi Kings)

Ravi Bopara is also one of the players you might not know have been a captain in the history of PSL. The English all-rounder is a freelancer when it comes to T20 cricket. However, not in many teams where he has got a chance to lead a squad. That said, owing to his experience, he led the Karachi Kings in a game back in 2016 but the team lost the encounter. Since then, he has not captained in the PSL.

4) Dwayne Bravo - 1 game (Lahore Qalandars)

 Dwayne Bravo, in the initial stages of T20 evolution, was seen as captaincy material. However, after he turned himself into an elite T20 bowler, Bravo gradually lost his chances to lead a T20 team, especially in the overseas leagues. Hence, it is a surprise that he has led only one encounter in the PSL.

5) JP Duminy - 2 games (Islamabad United)

JP Duminy has led in the IPL and he has also had a chance to lead a team in the PSL. The South African cricketer won both these games as the skipper and helped his team. The southpaw also has led the South African squad.
