5 teams that may target Suresh Raina at IPL Auction 2022

IPL Auction 2022 is fast approaching, and one of the biggest names who will be a part of the mega auction is the former Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina. The left-handed batter won IPL 2021 with the Chennai Super Kings. 

However, ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, the Chennai Super Kings did not retain him in their squad. Raina will go under the hammer for the first time since 2008, and here are the five teams that may target him at the mega auction this year. 

1. Chennai Super Kings 

Chennai Super Kings was the home of Suresh Raina since the inaugural IPL season. He has been a part of the CSK squad in all the seasons that the franchise has played. He is also the only other player apart from MS Dhoni to captain Chennai. 

Since CSK and Raina have such a great bond, it should not be a surprise if the franchise targets him again at the mega auction. 

2. Mumbai Indians 

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians honoured Yuvraj Singh in 2019 by signing him and giving him a perfect farewell with a title win in the season. They can do the same with Suresh Raina, who is also a left-handed batter. 

MI may target him because he scored a fifty at Wankhede Stadium in 2021. 

3. Royal Challengers Bangalore 

RCB need a new captain. Someone like Suresh Raina could fit well in that role. He has great bonding with Virat Kohli. 

Also, the pitch at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will be great for a player like Raina. 

4. Ahmedabad 

Ahmedabad IPL franchise will need a senior player who can lead the team and help the youngsters. In 2016 and 2017, Suresh Raina led the Gujarat Lions. 

He could play the same role for the Ahmedabad IPL franchise in the 2022 season. 

5. Punjab Kings 

Punjab Kings are another franchise that need a leader. An experienced leader would be perfect for the Punjab Kings. 

Raina could help the Punjab Kings become a consistent team in the IPL.
