5 teams that might target Shivam Dube in IPL 2021 Auction

Shivam Dube is one of the top all-rounders in Indian cricket right now. He is an ambidextrous player, who can bat left-handed and bowl right-arm medium pace. After his exploits in T20 Mumbai, the Royal Challengers Bangalore signed him for 5 Crores in the auction. 

Although Dube could not produce match-winning performances consistently for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the franchise persisted with him for three seasons. Finally, they have released him ahead of the 2021 IPL tournament. Many teams want an Indian all-rounder in their IPL squad. 

Hence, these five teams might plan to sign Shivam Dube in IPL Auction 2021. 

5. Royal Challengers Bangalore


Shivam Dube is a special talent. Hence, there could be a possibility that the Royal Challengers Bangalore buy him back in the auction at a lower price. 

RCB have released Chris Morris, Isuru Udana, and Moeen Ali from their squad. Washington Sundar, Daniel Sams, and Harshal Patel are the top three all-rounders in the team. Hence, RCB might try to repurchase Dube’s services.  

4. Mumbai Indians


Shivam Dube has played much cricket in Mumbai. As mentioned ahead, his performances in T20 Mumbai were the primary reason why the franchises developed interest in his talent. 

Dube can destroy the opposition bowlers on the flat track at the Wankhede Stadium. As Mumbai have released many players before the auction, they could target Shivam’s services. 

3. Rajasthan Royals


The Rajasthan Royals have released their captain Steve Smith and wicket-keeper Robin Uthappa before IPL Auction 2021. They have two slots vacant in their lineup and Shivam Dube could take up one of those spots. 

In case you didn’t know, Shivam’s only T20I half-ton has come at the number three position. He could turn the momentum of the game with his big-hitting abilities at the number three position. Also, captain Sanju Samson will have an additional pace-bowling option available in his lineup. 

2. Kings XI Punjab


The Kings XI Punjab have let go of their premier middle-order batsmen, Karun Nair and Glenn Maxwell before IPL 2021 Auction. They need an Indian batting option in the middle-order who could finish off the innings well with Nicholas Pooran. 

Shivam Dube could play that role for the Mohali-based franchise. Also, the Mohali and Dharamsala wickets assist the pace bowlers. Thus, Dube could trouble the batsmen in those conditions while playing the home matches for the Kings XI Punjab if they sign him in IPL 2021 Auction. 

1. Chennai Super Kings


The Chennai Super Kings are in dire need of an Indian all-rounder, who could bat after Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina in the batting lineup. They have a fantastic opening pair of Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad, with Robin Uthappa as the back-up option. 

Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu will bat at number three and number four. Shivam Dube could bat at number five with the trio of MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sam Curran taking up the next three slots. This signing will help CSK include two overseas bowling options along with Curran.
